Art Walk Brings Jacksonville Together

Each first Wednesday of the month in Jacksonville, Fl, thousands of people flock downtown. Artists, art admirers, and locals who are out and about are all downtown on this day of the month for the same thing: Art Walk. Here, local artists and performers can register in advance to display their work in booths and participating businesses. Live music can also be heard throughout the sprawling streets of downtown.
Each month of Art Walk offers different music and a different theme. The most recent Art Walk, November 1st, had the theme of "Salute to Service". In honor of this theme and of the upcoming holiday Veteran's Day, the Jacksonville Symphony performed classic patriotic pieces in Hemming Park. Since this Art Walk took place over the Day of the Dead holiday, many artists made tribute with traditional Dia de Los Muertos makeup and dress.
Art Walk is an event that continues to bring the community together, even in the midst of things like Hurricane Irma. Despite natural disasters and acts of terror, people still come together during this monthly event in unwavering numbers. It is an essential part of Jacksonville's livelihood and all of the art, entertainment, and food serve as an excellent reminder of all of the culture and joy that still exist within the community.

"Art Walk shows just how much we like to create, inspire, and motivate one another," said Sabrina Jennis, local artist and Art Walk participant.
The next Art Walk to take place will be on December 6. So head downtown for a night filled with wonderful art, entertainment, and food. For more information on participating and all that Art Walk entails, visit the official Art Walk website.
