On the afternoon of December 2nd, the Jax Truckies 6th annual food truck championship was held in the heart of Jacksonville at Hemming Park. The Overall Champion of the event was Mr Potato Spread and the Fusion Food Truck received the honor of winning the "People's Choice" award.
Over twenty-five different food trucks came out to compete in the popular championship. Twenty-four judges were selected to taste the food from the trucks and choose the winners for eight different categories. The public was able to vote as well, to decide the winner for the "People's Choice" award. Along with voting, the public was also able to support the charities that Jax Truckies partnered with for the event, The Donna Foundation and Hope at Hand.
"Me and my friends love coming out to the Jacksonville events, especially ones involving food trucks. There is so much food to try, it's fun for us to try as many as we possibly can," told an attendee of the food truck championship.
Hundreds of people flocked downtown for the championship, and with good reason. Both family-friendly and pet-friendly, this event was a crowd pleaser. There were games for children to play, beer was served by local breweries such as Bold City Brewery, and spectacular live music was performed by The Groove Coalition. But of course, the food was the main event. With so many unique flavors to choose from, there was an option for every food fanatic. Attendees walked away from the championship with full bellies and full hearts.
The Jacksonville food trucks can be found on any given day all around the city or at various food truck events. For a full listing of events and schedules of specific food trucks, visit the Jax Truckies website.
